Order picker recruitment means finding candidates who can pick quickly and accurately with a handheld terminal and keep up with hourly targets and campaign-period pace, then starting them on your warehouse shifts. Explaining performance targets and bonus structure up front reduces early leavers.
In order picking, speed and accuracy are measured together. Every mis-picked order comes back as a return and an unhappy customer. We explain performance targets to candidates up front and measure attention as much as speed.
Order picking usually needs no vocational certificate; safety training is the employer’s duty. If electric pallet trucks or stackers will be used, we write equipment training and authorisation into the staffing need. Experience with a warehouse management system (WMS) is a plus, not a requirement.

In e-commerce and distribution warehouses, demand follows the campaign calendar: sale days, New Year and the weeks before holidays. Preparing the candidate pool before the peak week and planning system training for the first days reduce picking errors and shift disruption. Core and seasonal crews get separate targets.
The process starts with your staffing need: position, headcount, shifts, location and target start date. We then build a regional candidate pool, pre-screen by phone and assess candidates through a short picking exercise that measures speed and accuracy; you approve the shortlist. Timing depends on headcount, location, shift pattern and pay level, so instead of promising a fixed number of days we share a written hiring timeline with the proposal. For hires of five or more people, starts are planned in staggered groups that match your training capacity.
